(Re-)construction of differences in the classroom – a necessity at secondary schools By Marcus Syring (University of Tübingen) - Part 2
This conference is offered by Marcus Syring (University of Tübingen)
Language : English
Summary
Everyday teaching in schools across Europe also involves dealing with heterogeneity and diversity. At the same time, differences are created or produced every day in every lesson. This is usually done implicitly by the teachers. In recent years, there has been increased research into how these differences are produced and why. This lecture with workshop is guided by the thesis that certain forms of producing difference appear to be particularly important at secondary schools (grammar schools, Gymnasium, lycée) in order to maintain the exclusive status of this educational institution. The lecture and workshop will follow this research and thesis: First, the question of the (re-)constrcution of heterogeneity and difference will be discussed, before findings from our own videographic research on this, in particular on teaching at the Gymnasium, will be presented. Further video examples will then be used to jointly reconstruct the production of difference together in a workshop.
