Thanks to the mobility of students and teachers, the summer school of the Master MEEF Option Français Langue Etrangères (FLE) was held from Monday 10 to Friday 14 July 2023 at the University of Madison (Wisconsin, USA). It was led by Fati Davin, university lecturer and head of the MEEF course, and Karima Gouaïch, teacher-researcher at the Inspé, and was aimed at students in the Master MEEF Option FLE. It took place in a co-modality: face-to-face at the Maison Française de Madison “French House” and online via zoom. 15 students attended the summer school and around fifty participants attended the lectures.

After a review of the didactics of languages, French and plurilingualism and a presentation of the “Sacs d’histoires plurilingues” research project by the speakers, the students reflected on, designed and presented a plurilingual teaching project to be tried out in their professional context from the start of the school year.

The students were also able to take part in two conferences: one presented by Gilles Bousquet, special advisor to the President of the UW-System and member of AMU’s Alumni Strategic Council, on the American education system and in particular the University of Madison, and the other presented by Fati Davin on Francophonies and plurilingualism.

Cultural visits (to the University of Madison, in particular the literature department; museums, etc.) and festive events (Bastille Day Concert; French Night) were also part of the summer school.
